fullsizerenderCheryl Lawhorne is joining us as the Culinary Experience Director for Culinary Canvas Catering.  She is trained as a clinical therapist, who values the integrated aspects of mind, body, soul, and as part of that equation puts great importance in each event experience being one created from the heart. Cheryl grew up all over the world, mostly in Europe and comes from a family where the kitchen was the pulse of the household. Her family members are all skilled in the kitchen, and she sees cooking as a creative outlet, that is shared with family and friends on a regular basis. Living in Italy and England, and traveling extensively around the globe, she has tasted many unique and authentic cultural cuisines. This experience allows her to bring an edge to what the Culinary Canvas Catering vision is for each client we serve.

Originally from Virginia, Cheryl attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate and graduate studies (Go Hokies), and worked throughout those years at a local Country and Golf Club in their catering and events department. She learned all aspects of the hospitality industry, realizing that customer service is on both internal and external levels. From event set up to breakdown and every detail in between the process should be driven by the client. She learned early on that connecting and listening to every customer’s vision is critical in making each event unique and fabulous.

Cheryl eventually managed a Congressional Recovery Program for the United States Marine Corps, ensuring the recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration of severely wounded service members and their families. She has written 10 books and is an avid public speaker on community issues. Her pay it forward attitude is always present, and she hopes that her creative side shines through in all that she does to make every Culinary Canvas experience one to remember.
